Jonathan N. Carter is a U.S. Army veteran, former attorney, and tribal policy expert dedicated to strengthening the Cherokee Nation and ensuring that all Cherokee citizens—no matter where they live—have access to the healthcare, representation, and opportunities they deserve.
With almost a decade of military experience, Carter served as a noncommissioned officer, leading teams in critical domestic operations.
While in the military, Jonathan was a Distinguished Honor Graduate from the Army Advanced Leaders Course. Before his military career, he earned his Law Degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Law, where he was honored with the American Jurisprudence Award in Federal Indian Law. As a licensed attorney, he focused on property and family law, while also working alongside tribal governments on issues of public health, employment, and self-determination.
